Home Show at Nexus Center

The Mohawk Valley Smart Energy Choices team will have members available both Saturday and Sunday to answer all your energy needs questions and help you apply for the NYSERDA programs offered to community members for Energy Efficiency.

Lead Energy Advisor, Rebecca Walley will be presenting at 12:00 noon on Saturday. The presentation describes the MV Hub's purpose and goals while discussing what the program has accomplished during the 2023 year, and our continued work to educate and connect residents to resources to make smart energy choices in 2024 and beyond. Key highlights in the presentation are on our energy literacy program, weatherization workshop with NYPA, and work to enroll residents in the Empower+ program.

The Mohawk Valley Energy Choices Team will be participating in the Utica Zoo Spooktacular!! Come visit us to learn how to save energy energy in your home and bring the kids to get a treat or maybe a trick?! Ask us about how you can get a FREE Energy Audit in your home!

Spooktacular is the Utica Zoo’s premiere Halloween and harvest celebration with trick-or-treat stations, food trucks, vendors, LIVE entertainment, animals on walkabout, and the Twisted Fairy Tail Trail. This year, Spooktacular will be held on October 21 & 22 from 10 am to 3 pm each day! The zoo itself will remain open until 4:30pm both days. 

The Utica Zoo Spooktacular Harvest Festival is an all-ages event and costumes are encouraged. *Please note, inflatable costumes are not permitted on Zoo grounds.*

The cost to participate in Spooktacular activities is $4 plus Zoo admission and includes free parking with shuttle service from Payne Hall Parking Lot at MVCC and the Parkway Recreational Center. Zoo members receive free admission. Visit UticaZoo.org/Membership today to become a member.

Utica Zoo FREE Night

Experience a Wild Evening at Utica Zoo’s Free Admission Night! Stop and see the Cornell Cooperative Extension Smart Energy Choices table to learn about the FREE ENERGY AUDIT and how to conserve energy in your home!

Every year, the Utica Zoo selects a few evenings where we open our gates to everyone FOR FREE! Yes that’s right: NO ADMISSION PRICE for a select time. 

While here, grab a bite to each from our concession stand Kookie’s Q at Polly’s and visit one of our many informational booths to learn more about other opportunities available to you in the community!

The first FREE Night is going to be held on Monday, July 31 with the second being held on Monday, August 28! Both nights will run from 4PM to 7PM with – once again – FREE admission for everyone who attends! 

So come and visit the zoo for free between those times to enjoy strolling our beautiful walkways and see our amazing animals! 

PLEASE NOTE: the ONLY part of FREE NIGHT that is FREE is ADMISSION! Gift shop purchases, food purchases, etc. are charged as normal. 

There will be FREE parking at the zoo and there will be FREE shuttle buses available for overflow parking at the Payne Hall lot of MVCC and the Utica Recreation Center Parking Lot!
